PNW Fishing is a small collection of tools built for anglers, by anglers. It’s the home for the data apps we make — maps, river conditions, and more on the way — built to make the information anglers actually use easier to find and easier to read.

We’re also the team behind PNW Fly Fishing, the largest active online fly fishing community in the region. PNW Fishing is where we put the things that don’t quite fit on a forum — tools that need their own space to breathe.

Why we built it

A decent ocean temperature map shouldn’t cost $15 a month. A useful river conditions page shouldn’t be gated behind a sales funnel. These are basic tools for people who go fishing.

Most of what’s useful on the internet used to be free, built by people who wanted it to exist. Somewhere along the way, every decent tool became a subscription, every map got a paywall, and every page became an ad-saturated funnel. We’re trying to build something that remembers the old way.

How we’re trying to be different

No invasive syndicated ads. No trackers following you to the next site. No algorithms deciding what you see. We’ll occasionally partner with small PNW-based businesses that serve the community, because we’d rather support the local fishing economy than sell your attention to the highest bidder. You’ll always know who’s paying and why.

We ask you to sign up before using the tools so we can keep things safe and sustainable — accountability for the community, a way to reach you if something breaks, and a check against spam. No marketing emails. No selling your data. Just an account.

We rely on voluntary support from the community to keep the servers running and the data flowing. It’s the Wikipedia model — optional contributions from people who find the tools useful, nothing behind a paywall. If you’ve spent time on our tools, there’s a Support link on most pages. No pressure either way.

Who we are

A three-person team under PNW Fly Fishing LLC, all longtime members of the Pacific Northwest fishing community. We fish the water we map. If you have feedback or ideas, we want to hear it — contact us.

Chip in, if the tools have helped you

PNW Fishing’s tools don’t require payment to use. No ads, no paywalls. If our work helps you on the water, consider chipping in — it goes directly to satellite data access, server hosting, and building better tools for our community.

Tight lines.
